太刀山

The Story of 吉江酒造

Founded in 1948 in Tonami, Toyama, Yoshie Shuzo is a small kura run by a parent and child, where the company president himself serves as Toyama's only remaining Ecchu toji (master brewer). Using Tonami-grown Gohyakumangoku rice and spring water filtered through the Shogawa river, the brewery takes its time over every batch, producing only around 80 koku (roughly 14,400 liters) a year. Its brand, Tachiyama, is named to evoke Mt. Tateyama, the sacred peak that symbolizes Toyama.
