Measure honestly, sell by the masu — a creed brewed into the sake since 1822.
Kanemasu Shuzo, founded in 1822 in Shibata, takes its name from the family creed: measure length truly, sell volume truly by the masu. Its early-Showa kura and garden still stand and host events, and the house brews honest sake from local Gohyakumangoku rice — including a label blended with rice shochu from its own still. Tours with tasting (about 40 minutes, up to four people) run mid-April to early November by reservation.
