One of Niigata's oldest breweries, brewing in Settaya for 470-plus years beside a museum open to all.
Founded in 1548, Yoshinogawa is among Niigata's oldest sake houses, having brewed continuously in the Settaya district of Nagaoka for more than 470 years. Its sake has won 29 times at Japan's National New Sake Awards, using water from a spring called Tenka Kanro Sen, fed by the Shinano River's underground flow. Alongside sake, the house now brews Settaya Craft beer, and its free-admission Jogura sake museum sits on the same grounds.
Ginjo — ABV 15%, light and dry with a rounded finish
Tokubetsu Junmai — 100% Niigata-grown Gohyakumangoku rice, ABV 15%
Junmai Daiginjo — long-term, low-temperature aged, ABV 17%
